Summer OHV Season Brings Opportunity and Responsibility
YOU DID IT! Governor Spares OHV Fund!

Last Updated: December 23, 2009

YOU DID IT! We were notified this evening that Governor Richardson used a line item veto to remove the Trail Safety Fund from the legislation sweeping unused money to the state's General Fund. The Fund was one of a very short list of line items that the Governor rejected. Your calls, emails, and visits made the difference. You were able to convince him that it was not appropriate to sweep the user fees in the Trail Safety Fund to help make up the State's budget deficit.

Don't forget to contact the Governor and thank him for listening to us and the other organizations who opposed the sweep of the user fees.

As long as the Trail Safety Fund is not being actively used, it is a potential target for future raids. Let's all work to ensure that the Department of Game & Fish uses the Fund as it was intended - for the benefit of the OHV users across the State.
