This year's annual Bucky's Birthday Bash will support NMOHVA's Access Defense fund for the purpose of fighting road and trail closures in the Gila National Forest. Many New Mexicans haven't experienced the amazing roads and trails in the vast Gila National Forest. Load up the whole family and your OHV's and join us for the weekend of June 15th. With one great trip, you can do it all: Explore the Gila, join hundreds of rollicking locals for Bucky's Birthday Bash, and support NMOHVA's efforts to keep the Gila open for everyone.

Details coming soon! The Bash is a Cowboy Dinner and Dance, powered by Joe Delk's country band (check them out at www.thedelkband.com). The Delk Band has kept toes tapping since 1934. The Bash is held in Glenwood's outdoor pavilion, the food is delicious, and the music goes on into the night.

NMOHVA Board Member Bucky Allred is passionate about keeping roads and trails open in the Gila National Forest for ranchers, hunters, campers, OHV'ers, everyone! His grandfather was one of the original builders of Glenwood, NM. Bucky is as zealous about keeping the Gila accessible as he is about playing electric bass and singing lead with The Delk Band. Bucky recorded in Nashville and three of his six records made the national charts.

There will be no admission charge for the dinner and dance. All are welcome.

This is a fundraising event and contributions will go to NMHOVA's Access Defense fund to pay for a lawsuit against the Travel Management closures in the Gila National Forest.

The Gila's Travel Management decision has not yet been released. But we already know it's going to close at least half the roads and almost all the trails in the forest to motor vehicles. We know this because, by law, the final decision must be chosen from the alternatives presented in the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). Based on the choices described in the EIS, closing over half the roads and most of the trails to all motor vehicles is the least possible amount of closure unless the EIS is overturned in court.
